About Me: Catch the K102 Wake Up Crew weekday mornings from 5a-10a!
Music: I really love Americana music. Check out the Roadhouse sometime on Saturday nites from 10p-12m to see what I'm talkin about. It is hosted by Chris Carr and me. 70's tunes are also groovy.
Movies: I like a good Sundance-type of flick. Also, It's a Wonderful Life is one of my favs. Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (with Gene Wilder)makes me happy too.
TV: The Sopranos, 6 Feet Under (I miss them). Own almost all seasons. Californication (I watched so I could justify the premium channels)
Books: The Kite Runner is one of the best books I've ever read.
Likes: my job, my friends, Hank, cooked vegetables, Activia yogurt, live music, dive bars, my new pad downtown, my family, tiffany lamps, a really good sale, the smell of the ocean, the sound of church bells, hangin at my cabin, holding hands with my honey.
Dislikes: People who are: self centered, mean, clingy, humorless, unwavering. I also don't like spiders, snakes, bees, wasps, frogs, bats, rats, worms. I can live in a world without beets. Greasy food grosses me out a little.
Hobbies: I like a good book, but only get to read 2 or 3 a year. Travelling is something I really love---not necessarily the part in the airport. I love a good movie, preferably a drama.
Vices: I have a hard time making it thru the day without a serving of hommus. No kidding. I also have an ongoing love/hate relationship with cheese. I love cheap wine--white, red, whatever. I can't pass up a trashy entertainment related story on a tabloid TV show or magazine. And I tend to stare at good looking people.

How To Fold a Fitted Sheet

Thursday, September 4, 2008, 09:10 AM CST [General]

Our poll position this morning was about simple tasks that  we, as adults, still can't do.  Mine is the inability to fold fitted sheets.  My mom, who could do it perfectly, tried teaching me many times, but despite her best efforts, I am now a 42 year old woman unable to make a fitted sheet look good in the linen closet.  If you are like me, and still want to learn, maybe the video below can help all of us.  Good Luck!

Update on Boy Finding Girl in Stillwater

Tuesday, September 2, 2008, 04:52 PM CST [General]

If you were listening to the morning show a couple of weeks ago you heard about the guy named Greg, who was a video producer visiting Stillwater on assignment for Lumberjack Days.  He happened to meet a girl named Krystell (see previoius blogs) and fell hard for her.  Unfortunately he was unable to meet up with her again on Day 2 of his visit, as planned, and therefore did not get her phone number.  Now he is back in Oklahoma wishing on stars and losing sleep over the fact that he may have lost someone who should be very signifigant to his future.

Well, we did go on the air and make an attempt at finding her.  The turnout:   Unortunately,  and shockingly:  nobody called in to even say that they'd heard of this girl, given her unique name and all.  I was so bummed.  I wanted to be a part of helping a couple find eachother and live happily ever after.  I wanted to make a difference.

Well, I heard from Greg a couple of times via email (expressing thanks) and he tells me that he booked a flight to come back to MN to try to find her.  Can you believe this guy?  I mean, C'mon!!! Who does that?  I don't think he is crazy or unstable or anything.  He's just a guy who doesn't want to live a life of regret.

My hope is that she does not have a boyfriend (especially the serious kind) and that she is open to a date or two from a guy who went the extra mile because he simply believed in destiny.  If you know her, please help me to connect them.  I will not give out any personal information.  I will get in touch with him and pass his info along to her.

    Have a great day.

    Donna

Donna, I too really enjoy Jack Ingram's song "Kepp on Keepin' on." It quickly became my favorite song when he sang it at Country Fest this year and invited me up to sing it with him. You see, I am a 2 time cancer survivor living with remnants of the last tumor still on my heart. I held up a sign that a friend of mine had made for me that says "35 and still alive... kicked cancer x2... on stage with you... a dream come true" Jack afterwards was signing autographs just off the stage and he signed my sign then added "K.O.K.O." very fitting because it was right by where it says i kicked cancer twice. Thanks for playing that song, it meant alot to me even though you didn't know it.

Hey Donna, just thought I would stop by, say hi and see how you're doing since last Friday. I always thought I "knew" how close you and Chris were, but after reading your blog letter to Chris (which was only part) I now "know" just how special the two of you were to each other.
Maybe he'll be back someday, or maybe he'll never be seen again, but I'm pretty certain that your friendship with him will stand the test of time...

    (((HUGS))) if you need them!!!

    Talk to you soon!

I think that note to Chris says it all. I hope he knows how much of an impression he made on all of us K102ers in Minnesota. Even if it was a short time here or there he was always a constant on the radio for us! I hate change....especially on my Radio! He'll be back...He'll be back!
